Women’s Act, 2010

The Women’s Act enacted in 2010 incorporates and gives effect to the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa. The Act was passed by the National Assembly on 12 April 2010 and signed into law by the President on 28 May 2010. Read More.


Sexual Offences Act, 2013

The Sexual Offences Act was passed by the National Assembly on the 17 December 2013 and assented to by the President. The Act amends the law and procedure relating to the trial of rape and other sexual offences, and for matters incidental thereto. Read More.


DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACT, 2013

The Domestic Violence Act was passed by the National Assembly on the 17 December 2013 and assented to by the President on 30 December 2013. The Act is aimed at combating domestic violence and thus provides protection for the victims of domestic violence, particularly women and children and for other related matters.
